Traditional Techniques

To go from raw antique glass to a finished stained glass window is a long, involved process as each piece of glass will undergo multiple treatments to enhance its colour, tonality and the amount of light it will transmit.  The glass will also carry the painted image that defines the subject matter and creates the  subtle tonal variations of skin or the rhythmic folds of robes or drapery.  This work is all done by hand with our artisans following a long, proud tradition and techniques that extend back to the very beginning of stained glass, well over a thousand years ago.
